Matt Fletcher

Matt Fletcher, Owner and Instructor

Matt Fletcher has been a home inspector in the Detroit area for 25 years. He received his Master of Arts in Teaching from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. He was an award-winning high school construction teacher for several years. Matt is a member of the Michigan Industrial & Technology Education Society (MITES) and has been a judge at the yearly building competitions.

Matt has also been a real estate investor for several decades. Matt put himself through college working as a house painter and an apprentice electrician for both residential & commercial buildings. Matt has personally gutted, renovated and flipped over a dozen homes. Some of his investment properties are featured in John T. Reed’s book, “Fixers” and Robert J. Hill’s book, “What No One Ever Told You About Investing in Real Estate”.

Matt has been a full-time home and commercial property inspector for over 25 years, completing thousands of inspections (several thousand of his actual inspection photographs are featured in this Global Inspector School® Home Inspection Training Program).

Matt began his home inspection career as Matt Fletcher Home Inspections LLC. His success in the home inspection business led to a large client following with realtors and continued customer referrals. Because of this success, Matt wanted a way to utilize his experience as a building construction teacher, electrician, and home renovator, to expand his business into commercial building and façade inspections. He created a new company: Belle Isle Engineering. This new company brought the opportunity to utilize new equipment and target a larger, more profitable client base.

Matt has a vast array of knowledge and experience under his belt, but at the heart of it all, Matt truly enjoys teaching and educating people. So, he decided to put his Masters Degree in Teaching to good use, by sharing his knowledge, his training and his education with the world. Matt is the creator and founder of the Global Inspector School® Home Inspector Training Program. Matt created these lessons and the included content, based on his 25 years of experience in building, renovating, teaching, and inspecting residential properties. He recruited fellow professor and business partner, Joseph Vaglica P.E., and together they have combined their knowledge and experience of commercial building design and inspections to be included here, as free continuing education courses. Matt wants to help everyone understand how to be a successful Home Inspector and Commercial Property Inspector, while enjoying the benefits of owning your own business.
